Catherine Louise Hunter, 94, of Muscatine, formerly of Burlington, died at 11:30 AM Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine.

Born July 16, 1915, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Frederick and Anna Froid Richter. On October 21, 1934, she married Wilbur LaVerne Hunter in Burlington. He died in September of 1978. |
Catherine worked for several years at C&E's in Burlington.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and its Mary Martha Circle. Catherine was an excellent cook, loved to sew, and enjoyed fishing. While at the care center, where she was known as "the bead lady", she made and gave away bracelets.

Survivors include three sons, Dennis (Sandra) Hunter of Fort Madison, LaMonte (Rennie) Hunter of Woodville, TX, Ronald (Bea) Hunter of Greeley, CO; one daughter, Sherry (David) Cottrell of Muscatine; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and one sister.

As per the request of Mrs. Hunter, cremation has been accorded.
There will be no visitation.
The Memorial Service for Mrs. Hunter will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 16, 2009, at Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Rigdon officiating. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Asbury United Methodist Church and Hope Haven. |
