Brendan Anthony Hayes, of Burlington, died at 11:05 AM Sunday, November 22, 2009, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born May 5, 1944, in Limerick City, Ireland, he was the son of Edward and Nora (Meade) Hayes. |
Brendan was Irish and a naturalized citizen of the U.S.A. He was a chemist with Tjaden Biosciences in Burlington. He has been a chemist in the U.S.A. since 1977, having worked in Texas, Florida, and Missouri.
He was a graduate of Rockwell College in Tipperary, Ireland, Cork University and Dublin University, Ireland.
He was a member of the American Chemical Society.

Survivors include his mother, Nora Hayes of Limerick City, Ireland; one step-daughter, Ariel Brumley of New Orleans, LA; two brothers, Denis Hayes of Prasdorf, Germany, and Eamon (Fiona) Hayes of Limerick City, Ireland; three sisters, Helen (John) Walsh of Cork, Ireland, Kate (Jack) Kinnerk of Dublin, Ireland, and Mary (James) Daly of Cork, Ireland; two nieces, Sharon (Alan) Balmaine of Dublin, Ireland, and Sarah (Simon) O'Shea of Cork, Ireland; four nephews, Brian Daly of Cork, Ireland, Shane Walsh of Cork, Ireland, Patrick Hayes of Prasdorf, Germany, and Barry Hayes of Prasdorf, Germany; and three grandnephews, Jamie, Rory, and Alex.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward. |
Cremation has been accorded.
A Celebration of Brendan's life will be from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM, Saturday, November 28, at the Tjaden Residence #40 Cascade Terrace.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Great River Hospice House. |
