Ardyce Gaylan Tarbell, 61, of Burlington, died at 4:07 PM Sunday, December 6, 2009, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born January 17, 1948, in Fairfield, IA, he was the son of Delbert Charles and Mae Ruth Hull Tarbell. On July 20, 1974, he married Nancy Jo Orth in Burlington.

Ardyce managed Giant Food Stores in Burlington and surrounding areas. For the last 25 years he was a route salesman for Frito-Lay.
He was a 1966 graduate of Cardinal Community High School of Eldon and a 1970 graduate of the University of Iowa.
He was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was church treasurer for 25 years. He was a St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes fan and enjoyed motorcycling, and reading. He enjoyed taking care of their acreage and especially spending time with his family.

Survivors include wife, Nancy; two daughters, Jessyca Tarbell of Mount Pleasant, IA, and Courtney (Mark) Bell of Paris, MO; two sons, Joshua (Lauren) Tarbell of Rochester, MN, and Cody (Lisa) Tarbell of Lenexa, KS; three brothers, Arvin (Becky) Tarbell of Des Moines, IA, Arlan (Flo) Tarbell of Creston, IA, and Delwin (Beverly) Tarbell of Noblesville, IN; two sisters, Karlen Blizzard of Fremont, IA, and Jolene (Russell) Lundstrum of Bloomfield, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Allan Tarbell and Darwin Tarbell, one sister, Gayla Tarbell, one brother-in-law, Ken Blizzard, and one sister-in-law, Joyce Tarbell.

Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, Burlington.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Tarbell will be 10:30 AM Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Calvary Baptist Church in Burlington with Reverend Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Calvary Baptist Church.
