Danny L. Rider, 59, of Burlington, died at 3:35 PM Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.

Born July 12, 1950, in Keokuk, IA, he was the son of Edmond "Sonny" and Wanda V. Troutman Rider.
|
He was a 1969 graduate of Burlington High School.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, and a big fan of Dale Ernhardt. He enjoyed old movies, John Wayne, hunting, camping, and was a good musician, being in the group The Fortune Brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Kasey Rider of Burlington, and Zackary Rider of Chapel Hill, NC; one granddaughter, Siddalee Rider; his mother, Wanda V. Adams of Burlington; his stepmother, Marlene Rider of Farmington, IA; one brother, Rodney Rider of Farmington, IA; three sisters, Dixie Wilkerson of Burlington, Debra Smithson of Fargo, ND, and Dawn Donaldson of Warrenton, VA; four stepsisters, Debby Moss, Terri Mercer, Cindy Goodwin, and Lori Lowary; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, twin children, Dustin Paul Rider and Danielle Elizabeth Rider, and his stepfather, Norman Adams.

As per Danny's request, his body has been deeded to the University of Iowa. There will be no services at this time.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established to the Great River Hospice and Burlington Care Center.
