Rosemary Louise Sanburg, 88, of Burlington, died at 3:22 AM Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at her home.

Born January 1, 1922, in Lomax, IL she was the daughter of Percy C. and Bessie Kathryn Porter Buckley. On June 16, 1947, she married Harry F. Sanburg in Monmouth, IL. He died November 24, 1979. |
Rosie was a beautician and owned and operated the Fashion Plaite above the Kresge building in downtown.
She was a 1940 graduate of Burlington High School where she won a state vocal competition.
She was a member of Parkside First Baptist Church. She sang and directed several church choirs and the Bel Canto Chorale. She managed the Shoquoquon Tennis Club, being an avid player even though she didn't learn to play until she was 55. She also enjoyed knitting and built a beautiful flower garden at her house. |
Survivors include one son, Larry (Barbara) Sanburg of Manson; one granddaughter, Coey Kryn Genuisse of Phoenix, AZ; one great-grandson, Evan; one sister, Irma Merrill of Burlington; several nieces and nephews; and her life-long friend, Viola Myatt of Burlington.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. |
As per the request of Mrs. Sanburg, there will be no visitation or services.
Cremation has been accorded.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Crane Cemetery in Lomax, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
The Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements. |
