Lewis "Lew" N. Wilkinson, 74, of Burlington, died at 5:33 AM Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born January 7, 1936, in Iowa Falls, IA, he was the son of Robert E. and Bernice Marion Fletcher Wilkinson. On November 30, 1963, he married Shirley A. Church in West Burlington. She died December 4, 2007.
|
Lew was manager of several restaurants and businesses in the Burlington area.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1958.
He was a member of West Burlington Christian Church. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, airplanes, traveling, the outdoors, watching his grandchildren's sporting events, collecting things, and riding motorcycles in his younger years.

Survivors include one son, Scott (Peggy) Wilkinson of Iowa City; two daughters, Shelley (Kevin) Mundt of Whitehouse, TX and Melanie (Chad) Brown of Burlington; six grandchildren, Matthew (Emily) Wilkinson, David and Elizabeth Wilkinson, Joshua Gaylord, Braeden Brown and Cody Mundt; and one great-grandson, Jude Scott Wilkinson.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Arthur "Art" Stoermer, and grandparents.

Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Wilkinson will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 29, 2010, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Smith officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
