Ethel Louise Moyers, 87, of Burlington, died at 4:15 PM Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the Burlington Care Center in Burlington.

Born March 7, 1922, in Des Moines County, IA, she was the daughter of Edward Nelson and Ruth Alfrida Youngberg Moyers. |
Ethel was a housekeeper at Bethany Lutheran Church, Burlington Medical Center, and for several local families. She also had worked at Sylvania.
She had graduated from Fairview Benton Country School.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the church Miriam Circle, and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, and found delight in giving bouquets away. She took pride in baking birthday cakes for friends and family. She enjoyed family gatherings, taking pictures, sewing, quilting, embroidery, crocheting, watching baseball, and playing 10 point pitch. She especially enjoyed her nieces and nephews and serving others. |
Survivors include one brother, Lloyd Moyers of Burlington; three sisters, Caroline (Charles) Bailey of Keokuk, IA, Mabel (Ernest) Haines of Fairfield, IA, and Elizabeth Long of Lockridge, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Doyle Moyers, one nephew, three nieces, and one great niece. |
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service for Miss Moyers will be 1:30 PM Monday, February 8, 2010, at Bethany Lutheran Church with Reverend Erick E. Swanson officiating. Interment will be in Kossuth Cemetery, Mediapolis.
Memorials have been established for Bethany Lutheran Church and the Special Needs Foundation of Des Moines County. |
