William C. "Bill" Bruner, 78, of Moberly, MO, formerly of Burlington died Friday, February 5, 2010, at his home. He had been in failing health.

Bill was born September 6, 1931, in Biggsville, IL, a son of John Clay and Veda G. (Oberman) Bruner. He graduated from high school in 1950, then served in the US Army from 1952-1954, receiving an honorable discharge. After service he moved to Cedar Rapids, IA and worked for Penick and Ford Co., moving back to Burlington, working for Kacena Co, and Raid Quarries, prior to becoming a partner in Lincoln Sand and Gravel in Lincoln, IL, and Moberly Stone in Huntsville, MO, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ, past president of Moberly Lions Club, served on the Board of Randolph County Sheltered Workshop and was a lifetime member of and past president of MO Limestone Producers. |
On July 18, 1954, he married Shirley Hofmann in Burlington, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Tom Bruner of New York City, NY, Dave Bruner of Kansas City, MO, Kathy Cagni of Hobe Sound, FL, two grandchildren, Alexanne and McKenzie Cagni, sister, Betty Moore of Lexington, KY, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother. |
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Bruner will be 11:00 AM Thursday, February 11, 2010, at St. Luke United Church of Christ with the Reverends Robert "Bob" Anderson and Vicki J. Engelmann officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for St. Luke United Church of Christ and Randolph County Sheltered Workshop in Moberly, MO. |
