LeRoy A. Smith, 62, of Cedar Rapids, died at 6:27 PM Friday, February 12, 2010, at the Iowa City VA Medical Center in Iowa City.

Born February 28, 1947, in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Elvin L. and Dorothy Mae Perkins Smith. On February 28, 1970, he married Sandy Newcomb in Olin, IA. They later divorced.

LeRoy was an independent delivery person around the Cedar Rapids area.
He was a 1965 graduate of West Burlington High School which was its first graduating class.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Cedar Rapids. He was an avid sports fan especially the St. Louis Cardinals and he collected model cars.

Survivors include his ex-wife, Sandy Smith of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Marlene (Christopher) Small of NY; one grandson, Christopher Small, Jr.; two brothers, Wayne E. Smith of Bozeman, MT, and Terry L. "Penney" Smith of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

As per the request of Mr. Smith, there will be no visitation or services.
Cremation has been accorded.
A memorial has been established in memory of LeRoy A. Smith for Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America 292 Madison Avenue, 10th Floor New York, NY 10017.
