John McGinnis Haines, 84, of Burlington, died at 1:40 PM Monday, February 15, 2010, at the Great River Medical Center - Klein Center.

Born August 22, 1925, in Chariton, IA, he was the son of John Henry and Ethel Grace McGinnis Haines.
|
John worked in the chemical department at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown.
He was a graduate of Burlington High School. He went on to graduate from Drake University, and then to Kansas University where he received his Master's degree.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during World War II.
He was an antique gun collector, and also enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include one sister, Juanita H. (Dick) Lewis of Columbus, OH, one niece, and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

As per the request of Mr. Haines, there will be no visitation or services.
Cremation has been accorded.
