C. Fred Park, 71, of Burlington, died at 9:00 PM Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born June 29, 1938, in Burlington, he was the son of Milton Albert and Ruth Geraldeen Wadell Park. On May 2, 1970, he married Nancy A. Wharff in Kahoka, MO. |
Fred worked in the grocery business most of his adult life and was a Little Debbie distributer in Southeast Iowa in his later years. He retired in 2000.
He was a graduate of Keokuk High School
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from the fall of 1962 until September of 1969. He served in Vietnam in the infantry for 26 months. He received two purple hearts.
He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. His pride and joy was his restored 1946 Ford sedan, with it's license plate reading "MONEPIT". He enjoyed watching NASCAR and dirt track racing, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; one son, Douglas Marchisello of Kansas City; one daughter, Christine Hampton of Burlington; four grandchildren, Tyson, Tyler, Nick, and A.J.; and great grandchildren; two sisters, Etta Jean (Willis) McCleery of Fairfield Bay, AK, and Claudine Lutz of Urbandale, IA; one aunt and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Mary Beth Hanna, and two sons, Mark Hanna and Dennis Marchisello. |
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service for Mr. Park will be 10:00 AM Monday, March 8, 2010, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Reverend Tom Smith officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard at the church. Interment will be in Carman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and Great River Hospice House.
