Gerald Wayne "Gerry" Harvey, 66, of Burlington, died at 8:35 AM Friday, March 5, 2010, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born July 23, 1943, in Burlington, he was the son of Albert J. and June E. Miller Harvey Jr. On May 12, 1979, he married Peggy L. Laue in Burlington.

Gerry was the manager for IOP Federal Credit Union at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for most of his career, and then was a loan officer at Casebine Credit Union for 7 years before retiring in 2008.
He was a 1961 graduate of Burlington High School.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War from 1963 until 1967 on the USS Princeton.
He was a member of New Life Family Church where he enjoyed playing the drums with the worship team. He enjoyed fishing, restoring cars, most recently a 1991 Ford Mustang G.T., and loved working outdoors doing yardwork. |
Survivors include his wife, Peggy; one son, Jeffrey Harvey of Doylestown, PA; two daughters, Kelly Brinker of Hellertown, PA, and Chali Maughan of Mertztown, PA; five grandchildren, Randy, Brittany, Amber, Amelia, and Hannah; one brother, Donald (Sherry) Keppner of Burlington; one sister, Kathi (Randy) Kester of Danville, IA; and several special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents. |
As per Gerry's request, cremation has been accorded.
Visitation will be from noon until 5:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Memorial Service for Mr. Harvey will be 3:00 PM Monday, March 8, 2010, at the New Life Family Church with Pastor Richard Dutzer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
