KyVan Bogdan Chavez, 3, of Burlington, died at 6:35 PM Sunday, March 14, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born June 19, 2006, in Iowa City, he was the son of Robert Richard and Roma Caruso Chavez.
|
KyVan loved the Disney movie "Cars," watching "Dora the Explorer" and "Go, Diego, Go!" on television, and being at work with his dad. He especially loved piggy back rides, sitting on his dad's shoulders, cuddling with his mom and his sisters, laughing, being tickled, swinging, and loved to play outside.

Survivors include his parents, Robert and Roma Chavez of Burlington; three sisters, Kylie Caruso, Kyana Chavez, and Kaycie Chavez and his brother, Cody Pedigo, all at home; maternal grandpa and grandma, Bogdan and Julia Sosnowskiy of West Dundee, IL; paternal grandpa, Mac Chavez of East Moline, IL; paternal grandpa, Robert Edmunds of Fulton, IL; paternal grandma, Patricia Rolands of Sterling, IL; paternal grandma, Roxxy Colwell of Davenport, IA; paternal grandpa, George Hornbeak of Rock Island, IL; several uncles, including, Dee Dukes of Burlington, Shawn Hornbeak of Burlington, Shane Ford of Galesburg, IL, Dominic Chavez of East Moline, IL, and Johnny Edmunds of California; several aunts, Danielle Chavez of East Moline, IL, Tina Hornbeak of Davenport, IA, Passion Nickason of Galesburg, IL, Shannon Raschendorfer of Burlington, and Karen Smart of Davenport, IA; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandma, Lenore Noel Chavez, and his paternal grandma Wanda Nickason.

Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM with the family to receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service for KyVan will be 1:30 PM Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Morris C. Hurd officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for his family.
