Arlene P. Dillon, 83, of Burlington, died at 9:00 AM Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Bickford Cottage in Burlington.

Born August 26, 1926, in Perry, IA, she was the daughter of Leonard and Delia Backus Dye. On August 29, 1948, she married Richard W. Dillon in Ottumwa, IA.

Arlene was a homemaker. She had also been the office manager at Burlington Produce, a clerk at Sickels Laundry, and had worked for the telephone company in Ottumwa.
In early years she was a Sunday School teacher at the Methodist Church, and also had helped with the Girl Scouts. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, flowers, keeping track of and following her grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include her husband, Dick; one daughter, Rebecca (Mike) Grundman of Corning, IA; four grandchildren, Aaron (Gloria) Grundman, Adam (Brooke) Grundman, Elliott Mohler, and McKenzie Mohler; four great-grandchildren, Dillon and Alec Grundman, and Isaac and Owen Grundman; two sisters, Betty Harris of Sulphur Springs, TX, and Shirley Gulick of Colona, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Bonnie Mohler, one infant brother, and seven sisters. |
As per the request of Mrs. Dillon, cremation has been accorded.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 PM, Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Memorial Service for Mrs. Dillon will be 1:30 PM, Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Rigdon officiating. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Hass-Thielen Community Room following the inurnment.
