Kathryn M. Spanhut, 84, of Burlington, died at 6:55 PM Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born December 17, 1925, in Manito, IL, she was the daughter of Moses R. and Nelda Whitaker Meeker. On April 17, 1955, she married Fred A. Spanhut in Manito, IL.

Kathryn was a homemaker.
She was a graduate of Manito High School in Manito, IL and then went on to attend Bradley University in Peoria, IL.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, and belonged to the church circle. She enjoyed playing the piano, embroidery, gardening, and going on day trips through the country. She was a people person, and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She quietly lived her faith by lovingly serving her family, friends and church.

Survivors include husband, Fred; two daughters, Carole (Kirk) Siegle of Oakville and Janet (Jeff) Allgood of Muscatine; one son, Keith (Judy) Spanhut of Oakville; 11 grandchildren, Dustin Siegle, Mallory Siegle, Caleb Siegle, Lance Allgood, Molly Allgood, Kyle Allgood, Angie Allgood, Brian (Jayme) Spanhut, Anna Spanhut, Laura (Nick) Scholten, and Kay Spanhut; one great-grandchild, Daxton Spanhut; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Spanhut will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 26, 2010, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Asbury United Methodist Church and Great River Hospice House.
