Lawrence A. Krause, 84, of Dallas City, died at 6:45 AM Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born September 5, 1925, in Gillett, WI, he was the son of Arthur and Elsa Krause.
|
Lawrence was a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and was also a farmer and a teacher.
He was a graduate of Gillett High School and County Normal Teachers College.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a Master Gardener, was instrumental in starting Wisconsin Orchid Society, and was a board member of Green Bay Botanical Garden. Lawrence grew up in Northern Wisconsin. He was an excellent gardener and loved to share his plants and knowledge freely with anyone. He was an inspiration to his entire family and he loved animals very much.

Survivors include two brothers, Arnold (June) Krause of Paducah, KY, and Hans (Lois) Krause of Sheboygan, WI; three sisters, Mary (Virgil) Johnson of Bismarck, ND, Naomi Hein of Madison, WI, and Anna Bourdeau of Madison, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Walter and Lyman Krause. |
As per the request of Mr. Krause, there will be no visitation or services.
Cremation has been accorded.
A memorial has been established for trees at the Great River Hospice House.
