Marston Dean "Ole" Olson , 81, of Burlington, died at 10:05 AM Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Blair House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Burlington, IA.

Born January 6, 1929, in Marshalltown, IA, he was the son of Shell Ernest and Ellen Kathryn Halverson Olson. On October 31, 1953, he married Rosemary Schmidt in Trinity Lutheran Church Burlington, Iowa.

Ole was a communication tech at AT&T Technologies, formerly Western Electric Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1983. He was then an inspector for Low Rent Housing.
He was a 1946 graduate of Marshalltown High School.
He was a PFC in the U.S. Marine Corps serving from June 1, 1946 until April 29, 1947.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was past council president and served on the finance committee and the altar guild. He enjoyed yardwork, spending time with his grandchildren, golfing, and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; three sons, Scott S. Olson and Todd B. (Patty) Olson, both of Burlington, and Gregg A. Olson of Austin, TX; one daughter, Paula L. (Erik) Johnson of Warrenton, VA; four grandchildren, Matthew Olson, Rachael Olson, Tyler Johnson, and Kyle Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, one sister and one older brother. |
As per Ole's request, cremation has been accorded.
Family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The Memorial Service for Mr. Olson will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Erick E. Swanson officiating. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
