Winona Mills, 77, of Burlington, died at 6:22 PM Sunday, May 9, 2010, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born December 10, 1932, in rural Farmington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Carl D. and Hildred Irene Shoemaker Haffner. On June 18, 1952, she married Guy C. Mills in Mount Pleasant, Iowa.

Winona was a homemaker.
She was a 1952 graduate of Farmington High School
She was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of Women of the Moose. She enjoyed gardening, being outside, photography, especially photographing old barns, camping, and shopping.

Survivors include her husband, Guy; one daughter, Brenda (Tony) Levitt of Burlington; two grandchildren, Ashley Levitt and Joel Levitt; four sisters, Geraldine Watkins of Farmington, her twin sister, Ramona (Lyle) Mills of Fort Collins, CO, Larita (Don) Gibbs of Burlington, and Wanda Wilkin of Richland, IA; two brothers, Daniel (Jeanie) Haffner and Joe (Linda) Haffner, both of Farmington; several nieces and nephews including Jackie (David) Needham and Allen (Trina) Mills; and a special great-nephew, Michael Needham and a special great-niece Laura Needham.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece.

Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service for Mrs. Mills will be 10:00 AM Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Chaplain Randy Langner officiating. Interment will be in Sharon Cemetery in rural Farmington.
A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
