Matthew Alexander Hightower, 16 days, died at 4:18 PM Sunday, May 23, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Born May 7, 2010, in West Burlington, he was the son of Samuel Eugene and Stephanie Amanda Beckman Hightower.

Survivors include his parents, Sam and Stephanie of West Burlington; paternal grandma, Vickie Hightower of Burlington; paternal grandpa, Charles Hightower, Sr of Galesburg, IL; paternal great-grandparents, Dan and Evelyn Whalen of Burlington; maternal grandparents, Jeff and Charlene Beckman-Waterhouse of Mediapolis; maternal grandpa, Kenny McLaughlin of Mediapolis; maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Marlene Beckman of Mediapolis; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandparents, Jim and Hazel Hightower, maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Karen McLaughlin, one uncle, James Whalen, and one cousin, Daniel Campbell.

The Funeral Service for Matthew will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Cindy Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
