Marjorie Ella Capps, 84, of Burlington, died at 4:45 AM Saturday, May 29, 2010, at her home in Burlington.

Born January 28, 1926, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Jack William and Frances A. Haugh Haskell. On September 8, 1945, she married Arnold Clark in Galesburg They later divorced. She then married Richard Capps on November 26, 1953 in New London, MO. They later divorced. |
Marjorie worked for the Arion, and worked at several other bars in the area. She also worked as both a supervisor and an associate for the Burlington School District for 29 years, she retired in 2004. More recently, she worked at Catfish Bend for three years as a security guard.
She was a graduate of Burlington High School.
She is of the Catholic faith. She was a member of both the Eagles Club and AARP. She enjoyed working with the students and the public and being with her family and her dog (Sam). She liked animals and was an Iowa Hawkeyes fan. |
Survivors include two sons, Ronald W. (Mary) Clark of Colfax, IA, James "Jim" D. (Jackie) Capps of Burlington; three daughters, Marjean S. (Mike) Vorwerk of Gladstone, IL, Cyndi A. Eipert of Aberdeen, WA, and Mary Lou Capps of Burlington; eleven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Jack C. (June) Haskell of St. Cloud, FL, and Paul W. Haskell of Springville, IA; and eight nieces and seven nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother and one grandaughter. |
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 5:00 PM Rosary Service until 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Capps will be 10:00 AM Thursday, June 3, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Father Bruce A. DeRammelaere as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Hass-Thielen Community Room following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for a scholarship for a Burlington High School student of a single parent. |
