Gary F. "Whitey" White, 66, of West Burlington, died at 10:45 AM Sunday, June 6, 2010, at his home.

Born April 11, 1944, in Iowa City, IA, he was the son of Theo F. and Margaret Simmons White. On December 13, 1969, he married Karen A. Staub in Nauvoo, IL.

He worked at J.I. Case Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1999.
He was a graduate of Fort Madison High School.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in West Burlington and U.A.W. Local 807. He enjoyed going to flea markets, antiques, hunting, fishing, wrestling, boxer dogs, and dancing. He was a San Francisco 49ers football fan and had a great sense of humor. |
Survivors include his wife, Karen; two daughters, DeAnna Davidson of Fulton, MO, and Debbie (Jerry) Albrecht of Trempealeau, WI; two sons, David F. (Julie) White of West Burlington, and Ken (Margo) White of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, a special friend, Jeff Krieger of Fort Madison; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents. |
As per the request of Mr. White, cremation has been accorded.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Memorial Service for Mr. White will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Cindy Johnson officiating. Inurnment will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials have been made for Great River Hospice, Peace Lutheran Church, and the Mayo Clinic Cancer Unit. |
