Marla Jean Starman, 70, of Burlington, died at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born, March 31, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, she was the daughter of Wesley and Madeline Beavers Cooper. On January 21, 1961, she married Harvey George Starman Jr. in Monmouth, Illinois. He died February 13, 1990. |
Marla worked for Sylvania, J.I. Case Co. and was a homemaker.
She was a 1959 graduate of Burlington High School.
She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and U.A.W. Local # 807.

Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda (Robert) Bristow of Bettendorf, and Susan (Bill) Glasgow of Burlington; one son, Keith (Betsy) Starman of Coralville; four grandchildren, Lucas (Kimberly) Glasgow, Tara (Martin) Farrington, Emily Starman and Zachary Starman; one great-granddaughter, Ella Farrington; her mother, Madeline, of Burlington; three brothers, Terry Cooper and Randy (Gina) Cooper, both of Burlington, and Larry (Karla) Cooper of Slidell, LA; five sisters, Dolores Wright of Roseville, MN, Judy Gabriel of Des Moines, Marilyn Beik of Burlington, Cheryl (Chuck) Clouse of Ottumwa, and Melodee (Dennis) Kennedy of Burlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father, one brother, Gary Cooper and one sister, Melissa Hoambrecker. |
Visitation will be from noon until 5:00 PM Sunday, July 11, 2010, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Starman will be 10:30 AM Monday, July 12, 2010, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Jane A. Willan officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Zion United Church of Christ following the interment.
Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society and St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. |
